Cosine
Physical Computing at SVA
Cosine is a kinetic light installation. It highlights the beauty of natural curves and subtle movement, and plays with shadows and negative space. Cosine was created from the desire to make something both functional and beautiful. In the future, we hope to build this project on a larger scale, and make it a permanent part of the IxD studio at SVA.

Process
Cosign was a fast-paced collaboration of very different backgrounds. As the designer on the team, I crafted the shapes of the moving pieces, taking into account the amount of movement and how the shapes would inform the light. My role was not limited to designer, however, and I also helped to physically construct Cosine and aided in the initial coding of the motor movement.
